Vanguard moves into Italy with ETF range

The world’s largest investment group, Vanguard, has announced its expansion into Italy by listing a range of 19 equity and fixed income ETFs on the Borsa Italiana.

Founded in 1975 as a pioneer of low cost investing for individuals, Vanguard currently has $5.1 trn (€4.5trn) in assets under management globally in both index and active strategies.

Sean Hagerty, head of Europe for Vanguard, said: “Our mission is to help investors achieve their goals by being one of the world’s highest value providers of investment products and services.

“We want to continue to reduce costs and complexity for investors, as we have done globally for over 40 years. This is why we are very excited to bring our value proposition to Italy.”

Earlier this week, Vanguard announced that its founder, John ‘Jack’ Bogle, who pioneered the concept of index investing for individual investors, and was knbown as the “father of indexing”, had died at the age of 89.
