Wealth managers dismiss ‘little local’ UK election

Wealth managers have dismissed the suggestion that the “little local issue” of Thursday’s UK general election will lead to any sweeping portfolio changes in the aftermath of the results.

Richard Stammers, investment director at European Wealth said: “The problem is it just increases uncertainty in the medium and long term.

“More importantly, economically we are at a not particularly great position, things have slowed down. We are a little bit wary.”

Wellian Investment Management’s CIO Richard Philbin agreed that the election was not the biggest issue facing investors and that for him, it was a case of “keep calm and see what happens”.
