Bank hires CRO from rival, Liontrust makes fund manager promotion and ING looks to add trio to board

Rolf Marquardt has left Handelsbanken to join rival Swedbank as chief risk officer. He will take up his new role no later than 1 October 2020 and report directly to chief executive Jens Henriksson.

He was previously chief financial officer at Handelsbanken and has worked in financial services since 2002, including six years as chief risk officer under his belt.

Among other things, group risk is responsible for identifying, quantifying, analysing and reporting risks and conducting independent analyses and stress tests of how events in the outside world affect Swedbank.

Liontrust promotion

The London-based specialist fund management firm has appointed Chris Foster as manager for three of its sustainable future (SF) equity funds.

He joins Simon Clements, lead manager across these strategies; and Peter Michaelis, head of sustainable investment, in managing the SF Global Growth, GF SF Global Growth and SF Managed Growth funds.

Having joined the sustainable investment team in 2013, Foster was an investment analyst with responsibility for financial themes and stocks before being named manager of the three funds.

Trio of ING appointments

At its annual general meeting on 28 April, ING will nominate Juan Colombás, Herman Hulst and Harold Naus to its supervisory board.

Colombás (1962, Spanish) currently is chief operating officer of Lloyds Banking Group, from which he will retire in July 2020.

Hulst (1955, Dutch) was an accountant at EY from 1973-2016. He was a member of EY’s global financial services executive committee from 1992-2000, country managing partner for the Netherlands from 2004-2006. From 2004-2009 he was a member of EY’s global executive leadership team. Lastly, he served as global vice chair Japan and member of global practice group from 2009 until his retirement.

Naus (1969, Dutch) is chief executive of Cardano Risk Management and chief financial officer of Cardano Group, an international risk and pension specialist helping pension funds and companies manage their financial risks with asset management, hedging and defined benefit solutions. From 1997-2014, he served in various roles at ING including global head of trading risk management from 2003-2006, before serving as general manager market risk management until 2014.
