Economist and former Bank of England governor Mark Carney (pictured) is joining Pimco’s Global Advisory Board.
It is chaired by former Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke, with Carney added to its existing members.
The board plays an important part in the firm’s investment process and provides a deeper understanding of the policies and institutions that influence financial markets, including global economic, political and strategic developments, the firm said.
Previous roles
Carney is currently UN special envoy on climate action and finance.
Prior to this, he served as the governor of the Bank of England, chair of the Financial Stability Board (FSB), and governor of the Bank of Canada.
“Mark’s extensive experience as an economist and central banker, combined with his focus on transforming climate finance, makes him an invaluable addition to this renowned group of thinkers,” said Emmanuel Roman, Pimco’s chief executive.
Other members of the board include Gordon Brown, former UK prime minister and former chancellor of the Exchequer; Jean-Claude Trichet, former president of the European Central Bank; and Anne-Marie Slaughter, former director of policy planning for the US Department of State.
Pimco is a global fixed income investment managers with $1.92trn (€1.62trn) of assets under management, and owned by Allianz SE.
