Kristofer Barrett will take over the management of Carmignac’s Investissement and Patrimoine strategies from 8 April following David Older’s (pictured) retirement.
He joins from Swedbank Robur – the largest fund management group in Sweden – after 17 years as a senior portfolio manager.
Barrett has managed the firm’s €10bn global equities strategy since 2016 and its €12.8bn technology portfolio from 2020. The global fund was up 133% during his tenure, with the technology strategy climbing 105%.
Barrett will continue to invest in global equities with the Investissement and Patrimoine funds, which have assets under management of £8.7bn.
Barrett said: “The coming years are set to be pivotal for equity markets. I am convinced that active management – and the ability to put conviction investing to work – is the key to success in this changing environment.”
Outgoing manager David Older joined Carmignac in 2015 and was appointed manager of the Investissement and Patrimoine strategies in 2018.
He said: “After nine fulfilling years at Carmignac, now is the right time for me to retire. I’m leaving the team, and funds, in safe hands and look forward to watching Carmignac’s continued success.”
