Generali Investments has changed the name of its Euro Equity Mid Cap fund, to reflect the rising popularity of theme-based investing.

The fund is now called the GIS Euro Future Leaders fund which is, says Generali, in line with the investment philosophy of the €565m fund.

The new name “reflects its objective to identify and invest in eurozone companies offering the most interesting growth prospects, with the right valuation: the future leaders in their markets,” Generali said.

The fund continues to invest in mid and small cap companies like before, led by portfolio manager Eric Biassette, who is also head of thematic equity at Generali Investments.

“While investors often favour mid-capitalization companies at the beginning of expansion phases, they are actually less dependent from macroeconomic conditions and market cycles than large-caps, and much more from their ability to execute their own strategy instead,” said Biassette.
