Federated Hermes is looking to Thomas Dirkmaat to bolster its business development efforts across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
Appointed to a new role, Dirkmaat will be based in Amsterdam and will look to development and implement the firm’s distribution strategy across the region.
This includes establishing and nurturing of institutional clients, private – and retail banks and family – and wealth offices, driving fundraising efforts, and advising on product development to address the needs of clients. He will report to Angelo Natale, head of business development for CEMEA.
Natale said: “We are pleased to welcome Thomas Dirkmaat to the business development team in the Benelux region, which we expect to be a significant driver of growth for Federated Hermes over the next few years. Thomas’ network will be instrumental in strengthening our relationships and expanding our market presence in the Benelux region.”

Dirkmaat brings over 17 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Federated Hermes, he served as sales director at Schroders for more than 12 years, focusing on the distribution of private assets, long-only equity, and fixed income strategies to institutional clients, private – and retail banks, and family – and wealth offices. Prior to Schroders, he spent over five years at Van Lanschot Kempen where he worked as an investment analyst.
Dirkmaat’s appointment is the latest in a series of European sales hires for Federated Hermes as it expands its distribution capabilities across CEMEA. In October, Henning Fock joined the firm as director of business development for Germany and Austria. In November 2024, Dominik Schubert and Christine Bergstedt joined the business development teams in Germany and the Nordics.
Back then, the firm said the appointment of Schubert was to strengthen its presence in the German wholesale markets while pursuing growth across the DACH region.
