EFG AM signals Swiss expansion with new appointment

Damian Burkhardt’s focus will be on ‘driving the growth agenda’ of group’s Swiss Equities franchise

EFG Asset Management is to appoint Damian Burkhardt to the role of senior portfolio manager for Swiss Equities.

Burkhardt, who is based in Zurich, will take on his duties immediately and will report to Daniel Murray, deputy CIO and global head of research at the firm. EFG Asset Management said Burkhardt’s focus in his new role will be “driving the growth agenda” of its Swiss equities franchise. Burkhardt will also look to develop strategies that combine analysis of Swiss corporates with an active management approach to find investment opportunities within the nation.

Murray said: “I am very pleased to welcome Damian to EFG. With his extensive expertise in Swiss equities and his experience of working with both institutional and private investors, I am convinced that he will successfully drive the growth agenda for our Swiss Equities business as we continue to expand our investment platform.”

Burkhardt has joined EFG from Credit Suisse Asset Management, where he served as head of Swiss equities since 2023. Prior to that, he worked for Lombard Odier Investment Managers, where he was primarily responsible for managing a number of Swiss equity funds alongside a thematic fund. Earlier in his career, he served as senior private markets investment manager at BlackRock Private Equity Partners.

On his LinkedIn page, Burkhardt said he was looking forward to his new role, writing: “I look forward to the future collaboration with EFG colleagues and my role of actively driving the growth agenda of EFG’s Swiss Equities franchise.”
