BNP Paribas Asset Management CEO Christian Dargnat has succeeded Claude Kremer as president of EFAMA.

The move, which was approved during last week’s EFAMA annual general meeting in Amsterdam, triggered the appointment of Union Asset Management executive board member Alexander Schindler to the role of vice-president – the position held by Dargnat since June 2011.

Dargnat will serve a two-year term as president, overseeing an agenda which includes supporting investor confidence in the asset management industry, enhancing the functioning of the European single market for investment management, and promoting the Ucits brand worldwide.

In his inaugural address as president, Dargnat pledged that EFAMA would “work alongside legislative bodies to support regulatory measures that benefit the industry, economy and end-investor”.

As well as the appointments of Dargnat and Schindler, the meeting also marked the addition of three corporate and two associate EFAMA members. Through its 27 member associations and 60 corporate members, the trade body represents some €14trn in assets under management.
