BNP Paribas Asset Management has appointed John Altas to the role of ETF specialist in the Nordic region.

Based in Stockholm, Altas joined the company earlier this week. He will report to Claus Hecher, regional ETF head of sales for northern Europe, and Morten Bentsen, head of distribution for the firm in the Nordic region.

Hecher said: “Growing client demand for ESG ETFs has led to strong growth for BNPP AM’s thematic and sustainable index solutions business in several European countries, where we have considerably strengthened our sales presence and visibility in recent years.  We are building on this momentum and John’s appointment is instrumental to our expansion in the Nordic region as we look to repeat the success that we have enjoyed elsewhere.”

Altas joins from Blackrock and brings with him 10 years’ asset management industry experience as a relationship manager and sales support manager. In his new role, he will focus on developing BNP Paribas AM’s ETF client base in the Nordic region and providing clients with specialist expertise in sustainable ETFs and index investment solutions.

Bentsen said: “John’s appointment is another step in the continued strengthening of our position in the Nordic region, where investors’ global leadership in sustainability is fully aligned with BNPP AM’s core values.  We are seeing growing demand for ESG-focused ETF strategies and are continuing to expand our offering, and John’s experience will be key as we bring a broader range of sustainable and thematic solutions to our regional client base.”
