French asset manager Amundi will enter 2021 with a few more heavy hitters after making a series of promotions and hires.
Christian Pellis, chief executive of Amundi in Germany
Pellis has been head of third-party distribution at Amundi since 2013.
Prior to joining the firm, he was a board member at LGT Capital Management and head of distribution since 2010.
He previously worked at Threadneedle Investments for 11 years, where he spent much of his career and held various positions, the latter being European head of distribution.
Xiaofeng Zhong, chairman of Amundi Greater China
Zhong joined Amundi Hong Kong in November 2011 as deputy chief executive, sales and marketing, and was appointed chief executive, North Asia in September 2012.
Prior to joining Amundi, he worked at Groupe Crédit Agricole from 1996, holding various positions in France and Greater China mainly within the investment banking arm.
His most recent role prior to joining Amundi was managing director of CA-CIB Beijing branch.
Philippe d’Orgeval, chief executive of Amundi in the United Kingdom
In 1995, d’Orgeval started his career at Rothschild Gestion as a portfolio manager and buy-side analyst for four years before joining Pargesa in 1999 as a portfolio manager and analyst.
In 2001 he joined Axa Investment Managers as head of fund research and in 2003 was appointed chief investment officer of Axa Multimanager in London.
In 2006, he joined the global risk department and became chief risk officer in 2010.
D’Orgeval was then promoted to head of Axa IM UK in 2016.
Laurent Guillet, head of solutions & services department
Guillet has been chief executive of Amundi UK since April 2013. Prior to this, he was chief executive of Amundi AI since May 2011 and previously deputy chief executive, having joined in April 2007 to focus on the managed account platform.
Before this, he worked as head of equity and fund derivatives sales for Europe and the Middle East in the capital markets division of Crédit Agricole CIB, formerly Calyon (2004-2007).
From 2001 to 2004, he was head of sales of equity derivatives for France, Benelux and Switzerland at Crédit Agricole Cheuvreux. From 1994 to 2001, he was responsible for fixed income structuring and marketing for French financial institutions at the former Crédit Agricole Indosuez.
Guillet began his career in 1988 at Banque Indosuez, starting up the regional capital market activities in Lyon.
Thierry Ancona, head of third-party distribution
Ancona has been deputy director of coverage for the institutional and corporate at Amundi since 2019.
Prior to this he was co-head of the treasury business line since 2015 and head of the insurance client division since 2017. Ancona joined Amundi in 2012 as director in charge of corporate clients and corporate pension funds.
His early career was spent in European equity brokerage at Banque Indosuez and then at Credit Agricole Cheuvreux, where he successively held the positions of European sales managing director and deputy chief executive in charge of Coverage.
