Allspring Global Investments has appointed Catherine McLaughlin as its head of institutional sales for the UK and Ireland, a newly created role.
The firm said that McLaughlin will be responsible for expanding Allspring’s institutional distribution business and servicing a growing portfolio of clients. She joins from AllianzGI, where she worked as UK institutional sales director. McLaughlin was at State Street Global Advisors, Aon Hewitt, and Irish Life Investment Managers before that. She also served as a lecturer at Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya.
Andy Sowerby, head of the international client group at Allspring, said: “A key focus is elevating our partnerships with institutions across the UK and Ireland, and the addition of Catherine to the company is an important step in that regard. Our objective is to help investors pursue both financial returns and positive outcomes, and we believe that Catherine’s expertise will be incredibly valuable as we continue to evolve our business.”
According to McLaughlin’s LinkedIn profile, she is moving to Allspring after just over two-and-a-half years with AllianzGI. She also spent nearly eight years at State Street Global Advisors and a year-and-a-half at Aon Hewitt.
McLaughlin posted this week on LinkedIn: “I’m delighted to share that I’m starting a new position as Head of Institutional Sales for UK & Ireland at Allspring Global Investments! I am excited to work with a great team in UK and globally! Thanks to all my Allianz Global Investors colleagues for past 2.5 years.”
