germans hungry for european stocks

Half of Frankfurt-based fund selectors plan to increase their European equity exposure, an Expert Investor Deutschland survey has found

|

Expert Investor Europe researchers discovered significant appetite for European stocks when they visited Frankfurt in February, stemming from a perception that the region was attractively-valued.

While European equities have since enjoyed a strong bounce, German fund selectors remain more enthused by this asset class than any other. Voting data from Expert Investor Deutschland in May shows that half of delegates plan to boost their European large-cap allocations, and a similar proportion expect to increase their European small-cap weightings.

The results are broadly in-line with voting at other Expert Investor Europe conferences in the second quarter, with all delegate groups planning in aggregate to increase their European stock exposure. Bilbao fund selectors delegates were the most upbeat on the asset class – almost two-thirds planned higher weightings and just 5% expected to reduce their allocations (see table).

Expert Investor Deutschland delegates gave their views on a range of macroeconomic and investment topics. Platinum members can view a full breakdown of the voting data here.
